Lovells Bury Lodge members and friends participated in this years Remembrance Day ceremony on Sunday 9th November. The event began with participants gathering at St. Andrew’s Church in Ampthill before moving off to parade to the Cenotaph which is located in the Alameda Park in Ampthill as is now traditional for our Lodge.
The Alameda is laid out across open common and an area of heath and woodland, on the south-west edge of Ampthill. This was originally done between 1821 and 1827 by Henry Vassall Fox, 3rd Baron Holland (1773-1840), and his wife, Elizabeth Vassall Fox, Baroness Holland (1771-1845).
The event was meaningful and respectful with all participants conducting themselves with dignity and military smartness. Lovells Bury Lodge Brethren paid their respects to those who gave everything for our country and way of life, they were front and centre throughout the parade and for the ceremony that followed.
